Welcome to Medfield Soccer!

Medfield Soccer is a private soccer club that offers regular programs to Medfield residents in grades 1 to 8. High school age teams are organized in the spring only, based on interest level. Medfield Soccer is a member of the Boston Area Youth Soccer League (BAYS). BAYS currently has 56 member towns and is one of the 'town' leagues recognized by Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).

To learn more about our programs and age groups, please visit the “Our Programs” section.

Medfield Youth Soccer (MYS) has initiated a new process to select teams for our program beginning with the U10 age groups. The changes are designed to result in an objective evaluation of players and selection of teams.

Register for the Spring season

Dear Soccer Families –

Registration for the Spring season is now open.

Visit: https://secure.adminsports.net/medfieldmasoccer and then log in.

Registration and Season Details:

Grades 4-8: players will be assigned to teams registered in the BAYS league.  We ask that you register as soon as possible for this age group because team numbers are submitted to BAYS by the end of January and we would like to ensure that there will be enough roster spots for all that would like to play in the spring season.  For Grades 4-8, please register by January 31 to avoid a late fee.

Grade 3: players will be assigned to teams that will be enrolled in a limited travel league (outside of BAYS) assembled by Medfield and towns close to Medfield.  Grade 3 games typically follow the BAYS league game schedule.  For Grade 3, please register no later than March 1 to avoid a late fee.

Grades 1 and 2: players will play in an In-Town league that will take place on Sundays.  The In-Town season will run for 8 weeks and all games will take place at the Wheelock School fields.  Additional details can be found on the Medfield Youth Soccer website at https://medfieldsoccer.org/in-town.  For Grades 1 and 2, please register no later than March 1 to avoid a late fee.

For grades 3-8, the spring season will start on April 6 and will end on June 16 (the In-Town league typically starts later than the travel league teams’ games).  The travel teams’ season is comprised of ten games.

No games will take place during the Memorial Day weekend for any age group.  Though the spring schedule has not yet been published by BAYS for our travel teams or officially finalized for our in-town players, the game schedule is generally the same from season to season.  The BAYS league schedule we followed during the fall season is below for your convenience or it can be accessed at https://bays.org/bays/season_age/list

Throughout the tournament a ‘nominating committee’ is at each site watching games, talking to officials and looking for exemplary sportsmanship.

MYS is very proud of our 6th-grade boys Medfield United team who won the Sportsmanship Award.  Great job, guys!

Spring 2018 BAYS Sportsmanship Winners

BAYS sportsmanship

Medfield United girls’ grade 8 division 2 team, coached by Jennifer Whelan, assisted by Heidi Lusby

While BAYS expects all of its members to practice good sportsmanship as a general rule, we believe examples of outstanding sportsmanship should be recognized and rewarded.  Accordingly, BAYS has established a Sportsmanship Award which is presented to those teams that have been nominated and subsequently selected by the sportsmanship award committee to receive the award.

After considering all of the submissions, and having investigated the comments received, the committee has selected two teams, the Medfield United girls’ grade 8 division 2 team, coached by Jennifer Whelan, assisted by Heidi Lusby, and The Westborough boys’ grade 3 division 4 Liverpool B3 team coached by Adam Halem, assisted by Brad Rice and Matt Jordan, to receive the Spring 2018 BAYS Sportsmanship Award.
It should be noted that both teams were recognized for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship throughout the season and that the coaches were recognized for emphasizing sportsmanship during their previous coaching seasons as well.
Since the tone is set at the top, Jennifer, Heidi, Adam, Brad, and Matt are to be congratulated for setting the proper example for their parents and players every season.  They are a credit to their town organizations as well as to BAYS in general.

Chairman, BAYS Sportsmanship Award Committee

Congratulations, Champs!

6th Grade Girls ChampsThe Medfield Warriors 6th grade girls select A team won the Division 2 Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC) with a hard-fought come from behind 3-2 win over Pepperell on June 24 in Lancaster. The Warriors won eight straight games against teams from all over the state to capture the title. After a strong regular season where the Warriors finished 8-1-1 in division 2A, the team qualified for the BAYS playoffs to compete for the right to represent BAYS in the state tournament. The Warriors defeated Northborough 6-1 and Brookline 4-3 in PK’s to reach the playoff final, where they overcame a strong and physical Arlington team in a tense 4-3 thriller in Medfield that was again decided by PK’s to advance to the MTOC.

The MTOC tournament is held at New England’s largest soccer complex in Lancaster, MA and includes around 200 teams in age groups from grade 6 to 12.

The girls did not allow a goal during the round robin portion of the tournament defeating Burlington 2-0, Worcester 3-0, and Lenox 6-0 in the group stage.   In the semifinal the team was able to outlast a tough Cold Spring/Belchertown team 2-1 to move on to the final.   In the final Medfield faced a very strong squad from Pepperell.   The final game was one for the ages.   Facing a 2-0 half time deficit the girls dug deep and left it all on the field.  They were able to get three unanswered second half goals, with the final goal coming in the last 2 minutes, for the 3-2 victory.   It was an emotional roller coaster ride that resulted in a much deserved State Championship victory.

Throughout the weekend,  the team was led by the solid goaltending from Fia Flamand who allowed only three goals over five games, stingy defense from Mandy Glynn, Sarah Hedges, Ava Walsh, Allison Garvey,   strong midfield play from Emily Soucy, Alexis Barton, Kelly Blake and Sophie Compston, and timely offense from Bridget Deignan, Molly Chin and Sadie Cumming.     It was an tremendous all-around team effort that led to the title.

Fall Registration closes soon!

We are starting to assemble teams for the fall 2018 season, specifically for grades 5 - 8.  If your child would like to play this fall in these age groups and you have not yet signed up, we ask that you do so as soon as possible to ensure that your child secures a roster spot.  In addition, we need to register our travel teams (Grades 4-8) with BAYS in early July and need an accurate team number count.  Once our roster spots are filled for any age groups, we will close registration.  Otherwise, registration will close on the following dates.  Note that to the extent registrations beyond the dates listed below can be accepted, a $25 late fee will be assessed.

  • Grades 5-8: Registration will close on July 18.
  • Grade 4: Registration will close on July 31.
  • Grades 1-3 Registration will close on August 8.
