Attention Medfield Soccer players and parents:
Ticks can be found in the brush that boarders the Wheelock Soccer Fields. Please check for ticks after each practice and game. The following are recommendations to help prevent Lyme Disease:
- Apply Insect repellent with Deet -25-30% - use liberally (avoiding face and hands of young children)
- Check for ticks everyday - their favorite locations include hairline, back of head, behind ears, armpits, bellybuttons, groin and behind knees. Check pets too. If a tick is found remove with tweezers and clean the site well.
- Keep out of high risk areas such as leaf piles, high grass and wooded areas
- Symptoms of Lyme disease include: "bulls-eye" rash (not always present) that is red and flat with distinct center; headache, fatigue, muscle or joint pain, chills or fever. Call your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms and let your doctor know where you live.
